Privacy Policy
Last updated: December 20, 2025
Your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Notly ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and discloses information when you use our Chrome Extension.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
We believe in data minimization. We do not create user profiles, we do not track your browsing history, and we do not store your personal details. We do not use cookies or analytics trackers in the extension.
2. Data Processing
Notly functions by processing the text you specifically select or the main content of the web page you are viewing when you click "Summarize". This data is handled as follows:
- Transient Processing: The text content is sent to our backend server solely for the purpose of generating a summary.
- No Storage: We do not save, archive, or log the text content you submit. Once the summary is generated and returned to your browser, the original text and the summary are discarded from our server's memory.
- Third-Party AI: We use the Groq API (powered by Llama models) to generate summaries. Your text is transmitted securely to Groq for processing. According to Groq's policies, API data is not used for model training.
3. API Keys and Logs
If you host your own backend, you are responsible for your own API keys. If you use our public endpoint, we may log technical metadata (such as timestamp and error codes) to maintain server stability, but these logs do not contain the content of your summaries.
4. Data Security
All communication between the extension, our server, and the AI provider occurs over encrypted HTTPS channels.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
6. Contact Us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, you can contact us via our GitHub repository.
